Unlike popular hill stations, Kangra Valley has its own beauty. Surrounded by beauty and now capped mountains, it feels like a sanctuary of peace and calm. What stands out is that there is an endless list of spots and places to visit in this small valley in Himachal Pradesh.

Kangra Fort

One of the oldest forts in India, dating back almost 1000 years. Situated on a hilltop at the confluence of two major rivers, Banganag and Patal Ganga. There is an ancient Lakshmi Narayan Temple inside the fort. It is a place where you can explore the region’s rich history and culture.

It might seem a bit boring if you are not a history enthusiast. But trust me, even if you are not fond of knowing about battles, you still can enjoy the view.
There is a beautiful panoramic view of the Dhauladhar mountain range.  This place is a culmination of nature, rich history and spirituality.

This is considered to be a powerful and culturally rich temple. It is spiritually enlightening and calming. A must-visit temple in Himachal Pradesh. This place is located very close to Kangra Fort as well, and can easily be planned.

Masroor Rock Cut Temple

An entire temple complex carved out of a massive rock. This structure, built in the 8th century, is a beautiful representation of indian architectural heritage. It’s often known as the Ellora of Himachal. It is a personal favourite for me, with the temple facing snow covered Himalyas. This view is breathtaking, with its unmatched beauty.

Pong Dam Lake

This lake is also known as Maharana Pratap Sagar. It is a small lake-like structure located near the Pong Dam and a Bird sanctuary. Thousands of migratory birds can be found flying near the lake, and it’s a perfect spot for photography, especially at sunrise and sunset.
Apart from this, there are fun activities like Boating and kayaking across the lake for several tourists. While watching the amazing photographs, I fell in love with this place, and it is at the top of my travel list to Kangra Valley.
